Grayed out wallpaper [SOLVED]
« on: February 04, 2010, 10:01:52 AM »
On my desktop, when I hit the Leave button to turn off the machine and before pressing "Turn off computer" the wallpaper fades to grey. And yet, this does not occur on my laptop. Is something missing? TIA

If it's KDE4, it's most likely in System Settings => Desktop => All Effects => Logout

If it's activated, the desktop fades.

Are you running KDE4?

I've noticed, since running it on my laptop, that if compositing is enabled, the screen fades...if compositing is disabled, it just turns black (with the "Logout", "Turn off", etc)...

I've ticked Logout but it hasn't made any difference when hitting the Leave button. BTW, directing me to the All effects page has given the opportunity to enable a few features I didn't know existed! So thanks for that.  ;)

Edit. Plenty to discover in KDE4 still!  ;D

Yes, I am running .3.4, what else?  ;D

That's it, disabled Compositing and it's done the trick, the screen fades. Many thanks.
