(SOLVED) Best Monitor resolution?
« on: February 03, 2010, 06:18:03 PM »
I have a 22 inch Chimei monitor. I'm running PCLinuxOS with KDE4. thsi is my new system with a hot new Nvidia GEForce 9400 GT 1 GB 2X DVI PCIE graphic card.

What's the bet resoluton for this monitor? I'm curently running 1440 x 90 and things lok good, but I'd loike to go larger.  I tried 1600 x 1200 and things were stretched.

The thing is,when configuring in PCC, i set the rez to 1600 x 1200, but in control panel I'm only getting max rez of 1440 x 900.

Seems I should be able to go larger.

Yeah, typos.:) :-[  Sorry.  Anyhow, I did a search and found my specs.  1680 x 1050. Went into PCC,  set the monitor and panel at that,  logged off and on, and the rez came right up.

Looks Gorgeous!:)

I was not kidding. I have a wide screen and had to guess at the resolution. Still not sure it is correct. No "typo" references, I assure you.

Rudge,

This Chimei monitor isn't listed in PCC's Hardware/Graphical Server set up list. So, i used the generic settings.  I pulled the monitor's back panel (cosmetic panel hiding plugs, etc.), found the model number, Googled it, and found a page with specs.

I then set panel and rez tothe maximum spec. logged off and back on, and PCLinuxOS didthe rest.:) The only thing I had to do was re-set a couple of virtual desktop wallpapers.

First, see if you can first find your monitor model in PCC's Hardware/Graphical Server set up list.  If it's listed, then you're all set.  if it's not, then find the model of your monitor, get the specs, and follow the above procedure.:)
