check for update error?
« on: February 02, 2010, 11:37:40 PM »
when i check for update i get his message :

Your internet connection is working, but your default software repository cannot be contacted.

Would you like to open Synaptic and configure a different software repository now?

Selecting Cancel will close Update Notifier.

whats the deal with this?

Exactly what it says. Open Synaptic and choose a different repo.

geekyloser, try bypassing the update notifier and just use synaptic to do the update.

Click, "Reload" and wait for it to do so, then click "Mark All Updates" and then click "Apply".
See if that works.

Assuming you have hit the "Reload" button first, it sounds to me like you may be fully updated and there are no updates. That may very well be the case.
