Can't Install Open Office Upgrades / Something(s) Broken
« on: February 17, 2010, 01:30:51 PM »
[I'm copying below what I posted to the PCLOS GNOME form]

About a month ago I installed a couple games for when I might like to blow off a little steam. One of them was called Ri-Li (I'm pretty sure that was it). I thought it was odd that it wanted to update some OOo stuff. Afterwards, when I opened OO Write, I'd notice it had a new splash screen which was orange with a GO/OO on it. I really preferred the nice blue one. The game never would start up and work but would just flash a cute twirling train engine for a split second and then vanish. Finally, a few days ago I uninstalled it with Synaptic. I hoped that might also put my OOo back to its previous state but of course it didn't.

I just checked last night for general updates and saw a bunch of OOo stuff. A also looked for Ri-Li again as I thought a re-install might have it working. It is evidently no longer in the repo. I thought I'd go ahead and do the OOo updates but after making sure the repo was reloaded and marking all updates and hitting Apply, I got the following message output:

Code: Select all
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

Any solution? If I retry, it just tells me:

Code: Select all
    Could not upgrade the system!
    Fix broken packages first.

Any ideas?

Hi,
please do not update OO right now because the current OO version in our repo has a bug which is being fixed right now, so please wait a day or two. When the fixed version is available I will remove the red text in this post and then you can use getopenoffice to update your OO. Note, to have this working you must first fix your broken/held-back packages. Please search the forum for instructions or just wait until the new PCLinuxOS 2010 will be available soon.
regards,
