Probably a dumb question but...
« on: March 21, 2010, 08:49:53 AM »
All of the repos in Synaptic say 'pclinuxos/2007' under the Distribution, is this correct or am I doing something wrong?  I question this because when I updated to KDE4 I simply changed the Sections to KDE4, am I supposed to likewise change Distribution to 'pclinuxos/2009'?

Can you tell I'm a newbie? ;D

Not a dumb question - I asked the same thing when I first joined the forum when 2009 came out (hang on, maybe it IS dumb then  ;D

Being a rolling release I believe the repo folder path (2007) was kept for simplicity.

I haven't seen any announcements but I do know that the repo's now have a 2010 folder in them so the Synaptic path may change sometime in the near future (I would imagine the sources.list file will  change automatically to reflect any change that may/does occur)

First, welcome to the "Wonderful World of PCLOS", I think you will enjoy it here. Now to your point, we had a first go with the new KDE4 by way of a 2009 update. That was accomplished by using the old repositories (pclinuxos/2007) and changing kde to kde4. Now Texstar has done a full revamp and we need to do a new install. See:

You can try the new KDE4 Beta2 or any of the other variations. They use the new 2010 repositories.
