[workaround] Boot hangs in graphic screen

During booting I always hit esc & watch the boot process scroll by. No problems. But I if I let the startup continue in the graphic view, the process hangs just after the progress bar reaches the end. I am left with a slightly glowing screen & have to power down to restart. As long as I hit esc for verbose mode, all is well.

I searched out forum posts & found references to acpi & apci but I didn't find anything that seems to fit my problem.

I have an Acer aspire with nvidia G105m. KDE4 upto date. Nvidia card is not recognised, but am holding off working on it till the 2010 install.

Is your system hanging before or after you log in and are waiting for KDE to load?

If I remember correctly, should that be splash=silent?

Not if he wants it verbose. Since silent hangs and verbose works I presume that's a workaround until someone can suggest a solution.

Yes, splash=silent is the default setting. splash=verbose has the boot process successsful.
I have autologin enabled, so I'm not sure at what point th hang  occurs. Can't use verbose mode to check it out. 
Oh & I am using kernel 2.6.27.31.tex5.

Well, I am ok with splash=verbose workaround.
Most likely 2010.iso will remedy it.
