Kodak ESP 3 AiO
« on: November 16, 2009, 05:05:02 PM »
I just bought a Kodak ESP3 AiO printer and can't get it to work.  Kodak on there web site said they don't support the UNIX OS (Linux).  I have checked the forums and haven't found anything I can use.  I'm tired of wasting a set of ink cartridges every time I clean the print head on the Epson.

Any help would be appreciated,

Ken

I think you're out of luck on that one, for now at least. Your best bet is HP, Epson and Canon. I use an HP Photosmart that works great but I have an Epson that I couldn't get to work with Linux.

Which Epson you are not able to use? I have an Epson Stylus Photo 750 that was working fine until yesterday when I tried to print a document; all it does is spit page after page with a few lines of garble and it doesn't stop unless I hit the stop/eject button.  ???

That's what mine was doing. I have it connected to a Windows machine now and it works perfectly. I'm going to stick with my Photosmart til it dies. Here is the link to a post I made in a thread called Printer Recommendations.

Hi,

I would warn everyone not to buy an Epson CX 8400 all-in-one. I bought a factory refurbished one off ebay for $50. It LOOKS very nice.

I was having trouble with the tri-color cartridges in my HP Photosmart P1000. I don't print color stuff very often and it seems that one or two of the colors would dry up or something. As you probably know, these cartridges are not cheap.

I looked at the printers listed in the control center and the Epson CX 8400 is listed so I went ahead and bought it.

I tried installing it with the driver included with PCLinux. I tried the web interface. I even tried a .ppd file that I found by Googling. I found many posts related to problems with this printer on Linux. Nothing I tried worked.

I haven't tried with Windows.

It does work as a copier since that works independently of a computer.

Thanks Gandy. Mine also works on the other side (M$) and as already stated it was working OK until yesterday, so it can only be something to do with PCLOS. Right? I can't see the printer being at fault. I'll keep trying...but running out of ideas!  ;D BTW, I am on KDE4.3.4 and MiniMe fully updated.
