change screen (solved)
« on: January 30, 2010, 03:18:55 PM »
I have bought a new screen with 1600x900 resolution, but how do I change that? My PClos "configure your computer" doesn't start (from where I normally make my configurations) - which program do I use for identifying the screen with plug and play and change resolution?

I got an Nvidia videocard and have the proper driver. I can choose "nvidia X server settings" from the menu, and in there I can see the new screen type and resolution (BENQ2020) but the tab "X server Display Configuration" cannot open: "Unable to load X server Display Configuration page: Dynamic TwinView is disabled on screen 0."

What does that mean? The screen works well as it has been plugged in to another PC with exactly the same OS (PClos2009) and a Nvidia card.

If I am having problems with my screen resolutions, I have had luck running "video" from a terminal as root. Good luck.  :)

Yes! That was the magic word. I didn'r know the name of that program.
Now, when it recognizes the screen I can choose the right resolution (1600 x 900)
Thanks!
