gscan2pdf- cant get itto see scanner <SOLVED>
« on: January 29, 2010, 05:53:39 PM »
Hi it is a long time since I entered the forum but I need help with gscan2pdf. Installed gscan2pdf from Synaptic (PCLOS2010) and it appears to install OK however before I am able to try it, the program will not see the scanner - it is an Epson V350 and I have no trouble with it been seen by Gimp and other scanning programs. When I look at the 'Help' in gscan2pdf it lists a number of dependencies which are not available in PCLOS's Synaptic. I note that when I install lthe program through the terminal it loads the program but the terminal indicates that all is not there and after all it is only loading it from where it was in Synaptic so the results are the same. Is this a GNOME only program?

Any help would be greatly appreciate as I want to get away from Windows and that DRM organization called Adobe and its Acrobat and this is virtually the last major program stopping me from doing so.

Thanks, williamJ

My thanks to the replies, Given me two options.

why do you need gscan2pdf ?
XSane will save scanned documents as pdf.

In the scanner window change  Type  from by ext   to   PDF using the drop menu

In preferences change the frontend .... maybe to scanimage or other available and it should find the scanner.
