GNOME desktop suddenly impaired
« on: January 29, 2010, 08:21:43 AM »
My GNOME desktop was running like the finest os I've ever had.  Now it's exhibiting more problematic symptoms than I care to describe.  I figure this is being caused by a very recent installation of another package or an update.  How can I get a listing of the last, say, 15 changes to my computer?

I might add that the KDE desktop is pretty much the same except that it is running slower, as though rather bloated (but still in much better shape than the GNOME).

As always, I appreciate the PCLinuxOS community and any help you can give me.  Thank You.

Synaptic -> File -> History

;D ;D ;D

That's awesome!
(I had never thought to look at that...didn't have a clue there was such an excellent level of detail available!)

Thank you, Texstar.  Part of my problem is that I didn't (don't) know what question(s) to ask.  So far, all I've ever gotten out of Synaptic -> File -> History is: "Not Found."  And I do have "Keep History" checked in Settings>Preferences.  Is there something I need to do to enable it?

In the meantime, screen behavior and Firefox are back to normal since I deselected "RENDER Acceleration . . ." in Configure Your Computer>Set Up the Graphical Server, and  selected "loose binding" in Compiz Options [I don't know that "indirect rendering" in Compiz Options is the same as deselecting "RENDER Acceleration . . .  in "Configure Your Computer>Set Up the Graphical Server" (is it?)].  I don't know how other applications are affected -- Kmplayer is still malfunctioning.
