Resetting video [SOLVED]

How to reset video to the values from the first boot ?

1st--console log-in  2nd--log-in as root...3rd--type "video" without quotes...4th---select your video card,etc...

Thanks for reply. What I meant was how do I get the settings as in root before I started to change the settings as ordinary user. I can not get it back as user like the settings as root.

I added a new user. The new user have the original settings for the desktop and windows decorations. Is it possible to export the new user settings for desktop and decorations to ordinary user ? I also tried a new install leaving my home unchanged but that did not help.

There is a hidden file in your user account .......  /home/user/.kde    (note the period before kde indicating a hidden file).

You can rename that file -- say to .kde-old -- and at next login the default settings will be recreated for that user.

If you wish to change back then reverse the process.
If you wish to discard everything in .kde-old  you can delete it.
There may be files within that folder that you wish to keep so I would caution against deleting it so that you might recover them if required.

Glad it worked OK for you and was what was needed.

The old KDE folder may have some files you need .....  I think for instance that Kmail stores your emails there is you use Kmail ...... so make sure you don't need any of the files before you delete the old folder.
