GIMP vs. Gwenview PNG
« on: January 27, 2010, 04:45:57 AM »
Hello, everyone.

Recently, I was having a problem with Changing Avatars and AndzejL provided me with a sureshot solution. I couldn't upload a transparent PNG created and resized in GIMP as my avatar to the forum which uses SMF. No matter what I did in GIMP (resized from the original to 60 or 40 and even 350 pixel), I just couldn't get the avatar to show on my profile.

AndrzejL suggested I use Gwenview, and it worked.

I was wondering whether there is a difference between how GIMP and Gwenview save PNGs or whether the forum software reads differently the PNGs saved from these two apps.

I would really like this explained, or it is gonna be like a nasty booger that gets stuck on a deeper part of my nose that's gonna be hard to displace. :)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Archie :D

1st :D please add r to AndrzejL in the first line of the above text body :D... I feel misspelled :D ROFL :D
2nd All written above is true... GIMP resizing the PNG file was actually resizing it but forum wouldn't accept a file resized with it...
3rd Resizing and re-saving the same file with Gwenview did the trick... and forum accepted the file as avatar?

Looking forward to see what You think of it...

Andy

EDIT: Now I know why Joble says that my username derivs make a great passwords tough to type in even when sober :D...

Kindly accept my apologies, Andy. I should have double-check for spellings common words are bad enough, and I have to mispell your name.
