guest doesn't like the new edditions DUUH SOLVED

 well i have looked at the previous guest additions posts but for the life of me cant get it installed on my lxde install and can't seem to find the mount point for the cdrom in the cli to try the .sh install method suggested by oldpollak.
    my xfce install shows a media icon on the desktop that says vboxadditions now but i can't get the guest to auto resize the window , not sure what to do about that or if it's even installed correctly. a window appeared and asked for passwd for an auto .sh script to run i typed in the passwd and all seemed fine, was this correct?
    i will be doing a minime and zen mini install also so i can look these lightweight's over to choose the one i like for my netbook.
any imput greatly appreciated.

There are two ways to install guest additions into a pclos-based guest.

Either:

1. In the guest, open Synaptic and install "vbox-guest-additions", or

2. Download the guest additions iso from Sun and point the virtual machine's CD-Rom to it. Then select "install Guest additions from the menu.

Method 1 is preferred because it will enable Synaptic to upgrade the guest additions. However, I believe there is a problem with the current guest additions package which might prevent it installing, in which case, as it sounds as if these machines are temporary method 2 would be the way to go.

Linux virtual machines cannot be resized by dragging the window edges as for Windows VMs. You do have to use PCC to change the display resolution.

You must be missing a setting, because my Linux VMs resize by dragging the window edges, middle clicking or right clicking the restore button on the window frame, or using Right Ctrl+F to toggle to full screen. Works exactly the same for the Windows VMs.

  ok i did some more searching for the vboxadditions file and found it using oldpollacks advice from a different post, use a file manager. after finding it navigate there in the console and run ./*x86.run and wahlah all seems to be working fine. i feel dumb .  will mark solved
