Flash Alternative?

I use the Yoono add-on for Firefox, & every time I view flash content, the notification sound in Yoono stops working. Is there a way to resolve this? Is there an alternative to the flash plugin? I use Yoono mainly for Twitter, & I've even tried a different Twitter add-on with the same result. I've had this issue from the get-go, & I've even talked to someone at Yoono about it. Can anyone help?

I'm afraid that there's little you can do, aside from restarting Firefox. I have also experienced a similar problem, for a very long time. Whenever I play a flash-based file, I lose the sound notification in my Gmail Notifier Firefox add-on until I restart Firefox. I can continue to play flash-based content just fine, but it locks up/makes all the rest of my sound notifications inoperable until Firefox is restarted.

It's truly a shame that Adobe has put so little effort into a decent flash player for the Linux platform. It tends to be as sloppy as the rest of the stuff that Adobe has chosen to put out in the last few years.

Thanx for your response.... I also tried an Adobe Air app(using Air 2.0 beta), but running the app disables my email notification sound until I close the app. So either way, I lose.... I think you're right, Adobe hasn't done anything to make it work better for Linux. I could turn off the sound in the Yoono add-on, but that's just turning my back on it & throwing in the towel. And I'm NOT about to do that....

So sad, it is. It's as if the Adobe Flash player grabs ahold of the sound system (at least as far as Firefox is concerned) and doesn't properly release it when it is finished playing flash content. BTW ... I've found the same behavior with flash files that do NOT have sound. Still, the sound system locks out any other Firefox add-ons that have sound options.
