Panel and Window decoration
« on: January 27, 2010, 09:42:42 PM »
I have already posted this issue during the early stages of KDE 4 and had a temporary fix for it. However, I noticed that certain settings remained with this problem. First, I should indicate that I am also running Compiz with Emerald as my window decoration. Second, I must also state that I prefer to position my panel on the top of the screen. I am also running Cairo-Dock which is at the bottom-center of the screen. Cairo-Dock is set to Auto-hide so I have more desktop space available.

The issue is with the KDE 4.3.4 panel and the window decoration as seen on the attached screenshot. It only appears when I set the panel visibility to Windows can cover that the bottom part of the window decoration is visible. Setting the panel visibility to Always visible does not show the windows decoration.

I am not entirely sure whether this is a one-off case as in only me, or a KDE/Compiz bug, or even if there is a way to get this fixed. I really prefer to set the panel visibility to Windows can cover.

I can always reset the panel visibility back to Always visible and get rid of the extra windows decoration but it would be nicer if I can fix this small problem.

if i understand right, you have a window border around the taskbar isn't?

i had this problem too, it is related to autohide and afik, it is compiz fault

i don't have autohide in my only panel because that and other different problem caused by compiz too

yes, T6. i believe it is related to Emerald. and as mentioned, i don't have it when i set the panel (taskbar) visibility to "Always visible". it only appears when i switch the visibility to "Windows can cover".

i had very annoying windows behavior with this setting on so never tested it deeply

my main taskbar is set to always visible and can't be covered until compiz fixes the problem that i have with kde4

i can't give you any other recommendation than the obvious one, sorry

Like yourself, i got it set to Always visible as well until the issue is fixed as well. What I'm saying is it would be so better if the settings were flawless. Thanks for trying, bestfriend.
