[SOLVED]Where can i get the MySQL package for PCLOS 2007?
« on: January 24, 2010, 02:24:32 PM »
I run Minime 2008 2.6.22.15.tex2.I already run apache 2 from it.If i try to install the current MySQL package from the repos it wants to remove almost all of the installed packages on my system (k3b,firefox,kaffeine,drakconf,harddrake...the list is endless). Is there a legacy repo still available where i can install MySQL from?

Thanks for the suggestion JohnBoy.I found the old repo link here http://archives.pclosusers.com/2007-before-the-BU/2007/ but unfortunately the MySQL package isn't there  :-\

I think the repo JohnBoy meant was this one:
http://kde3.pclosusers.com/pclosfiles/pclinuxos/2007/.

(In your /etc/apt/sources.list the line for it could look like this:
rpm http://kde3.pclosusers.com/pclosfiles/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde)

This repo is a lot more up-to-date than the one you found -- which also does contain the MySQL packages (albeit quite old versions).

Your original problem with installing MySQL is probably a result of trying to install programs selectively on a system that isn't fully updated. PCLinuxOS is a rolling distro, which means that you should either update everything or nothing at all. And if you don't keep your system fully updated you shouldn't be surprised if you can't install new programs or if they break your setup. New programs and newer versions of old ones are built against new libraries.

Thanks for the link blackbird.Even when trying to install the MySQL from that repo i'm beingasked to remove alot of stuff.Since i'm quite happy with my setup i'd rather dispense with mysql rather than do a complete update.I have a 'buntu partition and i can always stick the sql on there.
