<SOLVED> Rawstudio and RawTherapee don't see image files: Gtk-CRITICAL error

I'm trying to run RawTherapee and / or Rawstudio.

Both will start, but neither can load my image files.  I can browse the folder tree in both programs but:

  in RawTherapee, no files show up at all.

  in Rawstudio, the files show up but are greyed out.  I can't select any of them.

There are a number of errors when I run the programs, I'm not sure which are important or how to solve them:

Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0".

Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0".

(rawstudio:10616): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_store_get_path: assertion `iter->stamp == tree_store->stamp' failed

I haven't been able to figure out what's wrong.  Maybe has to do with KDE4?  RawTherapee was an rpm, but Rawstudio came from synaptic.

Can anyone offer suggestions?

I d/loaded Rawtherapee 3 Alpha  and have no problems opening images.

Is there a possibility that you have permission problems?

Are you using the correct file to start the app?

EDIT
          RawStudio has no problems here loading image files.
Be Aware  ********   it requires that you open the directory containing the images, not individual files!!!!!!

Thanks for trying it out.  I just now figured out I need to double-click on the folder in RawTherapee to see the thumbnails.

And thanks for the hint on opening the directory not the individual files in Rawstudio!
