Is it just me or is there no nxclient in the repos?  I have the server setup and can connect from my windows machine, but can't find the client in the repos, so before I install the nomachine.com client I wanted to check and make sure it's not just my lack of vision.

BTW, in case you haven't used freenx, it's a superly awesome, fast way to do desktop sharing.  Just set up ssh, then install freenx from the repos.  Then as root

# nxsetup --install --setup-nomachine-keyThat's it.  Then install the nomachine client on your remote computer, and voila.  You have remote access to your desktop via secure ssh session.

As for the client, I use the .rpm version on the nomachine.org website.  I know about the "installation from outside the repos warning".  But I tested it in a virtual machine first before installing it on a physical machine.  It works fine.

I agree that it is a good program and that it works fine.  However, it does have one issue that I deal with when using it.  I have not found out how (or if it is even possible) to keep a session running so that I can access the running session at a later time.  With vncserver, this is not an issue.  So I use the FreeNX to access the system when I am on the web side of my router and I use vncserver and krdc client to access the remote machine on the local network side of the router.

Do you know how or if it is possible to keep a session running while closing the client program on the client machine?  Some programs I would like to keep running while not trying to run them as a daemon.

It works out of the box using the repo nsxserver and the nomachines client.  Instead of logging out of a session, just click on the X (close) button on the top right of the nx window.  It will ask you whether it should terminate or suspend the session.  On the next login, you'll reconnect automatically to the suspended nx session (and any tasks continue to work while diconnected) making the thing kind of like a graphic version of ssh+screen on steroids.

Thank you.    I tried that but it locked up the program when I tried and I never got to the screen where it asked me to close the session or not.  I will try it again.

It might be a limitation of which programs you are running.  Some may not take kindly to being suspended.  I have not tested it with a lot of programs running.
