I am getting the same problem, unable to open a document. this doesn't happen if OO is the first app I use after booting up my PC, only after running other apps, which could be anything. Checking running processes soffice is running and using over 80% of cpu time and I have to kill this process, although this doesn't improve the situation. The only way to get OO to work is to reboot.

I have completely remove OO and installed again using getopenoffice without success.

The latest java runtime is installed and set in OO options and my system is up to date. I am running a PCLOS2010 KDE with LXDE desktop.

Too many cops, too few donuts.

Hi thorper

Not sure whether this will help but you may want to have a look in Tools >> Options > OOo >> Memory >> and try allocating yourself some more/less memory.

You can also enable the "Systray Quickstarter" option as well so it is ready to "quickstart" from an icon dropped in the taskbar/panel. (the icon is there on each reboot/restart as well)

I have set the memory to various values from 1MB to 50MB with no effect. Enabled quickstart and that doesn't help either. Just noticed that select "Exit" from the menu or CTL-Q doesn't work either. I always close apps by clicking the * at the top right of the app.
