Editing startup applications
« on: January 19, 2010, 10:46:49 AM »
As the subject title suggests, I want to edit the applications that run at startup.  I have tried using the session manager way by clicking "Restore manually saved session", opening what I want to be opened at startup and then clicking "save session", but compiz won't start and now for some reason a Kmix window pops up every time i start.
So, how do i make it so that compiz starts at boot, and get rid of this Kmix window that pops up?

UPDATE:  By changing the session manager settings back to "Start new session" at boot, the Kmix window doesnt pop up anymore, so now I just need to know how to get compiz to start at boot.

Solved:  Put a link to it in /home/USER/.kde/Autostart

you can set the desktop to save the session you want instead of restore last session

in kde3 there is a folder called autostart

in kde4 there is a folder and a menu in kde control center that allows you to add apps you want to run when you log in to kde

it is just create a link to a app and select what app you need

you can include fusion-icon and many many other apps you need

Furthermore, when you set the session manager to Restore manually saved session just make sure to close Kmix before saving your session. Kmix should come up automatically when logging in.
