That shut my monitor off after I leave the computer for awhile. I would rather have a screensaver then the monitor shutting down. I know where to find the screensaver settings but never see the one I set. Dan

in what desktop are you? kde3, kde4, gnome?
each one has this setting in a different place
i usually just turn off the monitor when i'm away so never use this settings, it saves more electricity this way

i don't have kde3 anymore so my knowledge about it is going away fast, i think it is on right click on the wallpaper and there is a tab to turn on screensaver
can't remember if the rules to shut down monitor are there too
if not, those should be on kde control center
