watching tv on demand on pclinuxos specifically '24'
« on: January 18, 2010, 01:23:30 PM »
I was trying to show wife that we might be able to drop cable and satellite tv and watch tv on demand, buy episodes of the few programs we watch, and pay less in the long run.
Naturally I wanted to use my Dragon HTPC box running PCLinuxOS to demo it.

I went to install VLC, but there are repo problems, maybe they are syncing, so I went to the '24' foxtv site, maybe use mplayer for now.

Well I go to the site, and 24 from last night i available. Click here to install our new player. I click and it says sorry mac or windows only.

Before I go and try to d/l the file, if possible using a flv or equivalent process, does anyone know what to do? What they use for a player?
Maybe I can run it in WINE?

Anyway food for thought...
Thanks.

You can use the Hulu player for Linux to watch 24 and other Fox shows. Hulu is supposed to be going pay at some point but as of now it's still free. Check Synaptic, it's in the repositories......
