Clicking on the Close button on the error message dialog box does nothing. The dialog box will not go away. I did finally figure out out that if I Control-Alt-Backspace and log on as Root, I do not get the error. I will go ahead and run the install and see what happens.

I have the same thing happening as  n8oay
  -when booting up from a new checked DVD I got the same error message. 
When trying to report it to KDE as the message asked,
it showed another error message. 
I clicked it off and all went smoothly from there.
On a second try I clicked off the first error message and all went ok.
There is no actual crash,
just the display of the error message which needs to be closed. 
I assume that as Old-Polack says- the message is an error.
Not an ideal situation but easy to live with.
