Dell B130 Updated Kernel, Failed to boot, even failsafe!
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:52:53 AM »
Was trying to upgrade kernel to add ext4 support, but in the beginning it says something about a module load failure, I have the oh so popular 915 express intel... ugh. I'd copy/paste... but it seems I cannot since it is an error before PCLinuxOS even begins boot process.  is my computer incompatible with this kernel 2.6.27.31.tex5.....

I tried then using Kernel-2.6.26.8.tex4, but it broke my compiz, i was not able to move any of my windows unless i made kwin my default window manager, i tried removing and re-installing all compiz related things, but still no go... am I stuck with old kernel-2.6.26.8.tex3?

What hardware wasn't working correctly with the .26 kernel you had? Most times the kernel upgrade is only needed because a specific piece of H/W won't work at all/work well.
Why?

I wanted to use ext4 filesystem, the current kernel does not support it
