I have a lot of music that is not showing up in Songbird, and I know that at least some of it is because it is the wrong format (WMA, etc.). Does anyone know of a program that will change the format of my music so that all of it will show up and play in Songbird?

Most audio editors such as Audacity should be able to convert between formats.

afik, wma can't be edited or converted by audacity, this proprietary format is not friendly with other apps

i don't know is transcode is up to the task, also soundkonverter but not sure if exist in kde3 only or in kde4

vlc can convert audio files but it is oriented to video files

Gnormalize should be able to read WMA and convert it - depending on the WMA files being DRM or not ...?

PACPL  should convert the files ...... in the repository. It will certainly convert TO .wma so I guess it will convert From also.

It provides a Right-Click context menu item.

WinFF  should also convert the files ....... it will do batches of files.

BTW ..... maybe you are just missing a codec to allow Songbird to play the files ....... if so it would be easier to just install that instead of converting a bunch of files.

regards.

what JohnBoy  says is true

if the apps that should work with wma is not working, some plugin or a library could be required to work with the content

it would be too complicated to convert 100 or more files form wma to another format but if we are talking about 10 or 20, it is not a bad idea
