 ???  ::)
Burned the .iso finally on 2 totally different systems today and booted the desktop with the desktop's own .iso and upon boot (w/ SATA probe needed)..........error  "initrd (then options displayed and something something) failed to mount" and "unable to mount (the .sqshfs file) on /dev/loopfs"

Basic system is
Intel Dual Core 2.5Ghz
4G mem
PCLOS 2009.1
SCSI hard disk and /dev/sr0 DVD (which does mount the DVD right before the error  :(   )

Seen the posts about backing down to mklivecd 0.7.1.......don't know why that would help? but if anyone has any other suggestions...........and YES, mediacheck said the disk was fine btw...

--and--BIZARRE mklivecd curiosity error........happening on above DESKTOP system and LAPTOP 1.6Ghz/2G notebook running 2.6.27.31 kernel occurs during "making the compressed image" with debug enabled...

``squashfs: directory ///usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.1/Error inode 0x0xxxxxxxxx``

there are several other similar "inode errors" in the /usr/share/doc/perl directory  ??? ???

would have thought of a hard disk problem, but since these machines are not even connected, nor ever share files this is really weird........both using mklivecd 0.7.2 from repo

??? update, unable to run the 0.7.1 due to error "invalid argument" on line 239 @ according to debug......like the variable is not a valid numeric value according to the rest of the error......

From my experience,
For your first question, try booting the original cd (that you downloaded) to RAM. since you have 4GB it is no big deal. It does work.

I have no clue in between of what you have experienced here. but to boot AFTER using mklivecd and creating a custom dvd, please tick the option "unionfs" and the boot will continue as usual.
These are through my experience but the inode errors, i have no idea.

Alternative Method- if yhou
Try the whole process by installing Virtual Box and installing PCLOS in the virtual. And see if it runs ok.
OR
If you are bold enough try everything from the beginning by installing PCLOS to the real system.
Save the rpm packages in the folder /var/cache/apt/archives to other partition in the hdd and do a clean install. Then try the same sequence,
if you get the mklivecd inode error, then something else should be wrong.

:-\ where is the "unionfs" option on boot?  I thought the --ufs option in mklivecd should take care of that?........................ ???

Bro i mentioned 1. unionfs for mklivecd-
2. 'Copy to Ram' on the original cd to boot to your new o/s.

Hope i didn't make you confused. Sorry
