Trying to register on the forum (Answered)

  I installed PCLinux on the in-laws computer and got everything setup for them.
 I explained that they could come to the forum and get help and then proceeded
 to guide them through the registration process.

 They have only a Hotmail e-mail account and weren't able to register.
 The reason for them having a Hotmail e-mail is that they have been forced to switch
  ISP's several times in the past couple of years and would loose their e-mail account
 from provider to provider.

 The question is: why doesn't the forum allow Hotmail accounts for registration ?

I am registered with a hotmail account. Unless that has changed recently, you should be able to register.

No problem I'm aware of with hotmail accounts. There are a number of them here.

A couple of months ago MS decided that our registration emails going to hotmail accounts were spam and would not deliver them. The registration agreement was changed. New members were asked to use a yahoo or gmail account to avoid this problem in case MS decides to not deliver our registration emails again.

 I looked before posting this and the notice to not use Hotmail is still listed on the registration page.

I know that it is probably not quite acceptable but I did get them registered using my e-mail addy.
