After 4 days update-notifier still was giving an error not to upgrade and I had waited until this morning to try to upgrade over 200 packages. When I reloaded Synaptic this morning there were even more upgrades (290), but finally kdeaddons was not listed in packages to be removed. Still, ekiga and evolution-data-server were still listed, along with some libs that were actually being replaced by files of new names. Be aware that when a file is renamed, which isn't a common practice only done for some good reason, it can't be upgraded, but the old one will be removed and the new one installed, and perhaps some other packages that depend on the file(s) will also have to be upgraded. I did the upgrade, which went smoothly, then just simply installed ekiga and evolution-data-server. No problem. This event demonstrates some unresolved dependency problems. All is well. KDE 3.5.10 still intact. How long that will remain I don't know.
