<solved> Out of Range Monitor

I've tried downloading a few games from the repos. When I try to log on I get the infamous out of range message. Is there a workaround for this so that the game runs on a different resolution or do I just have to mess with the monitor settings.

I have a Hanton 19" widescreen lcd which isn't recognized on the PCLOS setup so it defaults to generic mode.

Somebody might know perfectly well what you are asking but the question seems to need more detail to me.

Maybe I am just showing my ignorance again.

Make sure that the monitor is selected as a Generic Flat Panel and not a CRT.

Do you get the choice to alter the video settings for the game/s? If so try doing so.

As already mentioned lots more detail might help ....... hardware and what games?

I tried resetting the default to flat panel 1220x800. As I thought its now screwed! The mouse has locked up and the screen is slightly too big for the monitor. I'm now running on live cd. (What a wonderful thing!) I can look at the hdd and filesystem on my installation. Is there a way I can reconfigure my graphics from this situation?

From root console, (Ctrl-Alt-F2) or root Terminal-Super User Mode you can start "video" Scroll down and hit Plug&Play or choose the right "Flat Panel 1440x900" for your monitor. (Spec's found on the net)
It's also found in the PCC centre, configuring graphics server.

Also you can edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, carefully !!

Have it sorted now. Monitor was set as crt! Now set to flat panel 1440x900 as suggested and now runs ok.
