Still in '07; is update by direct download smooth?
« on: January 02, 2010, 03:38:47 PM »
Or is it better to burn a disc?

I tried one machine (out of 3 PCLOS machines) last March, and it was a little shaky.

'07 works FINE , except for Broadcom wireless card in one machine, so I can wait if it's better to do that...

If you have a machine that was first installed from the 2007 cd and it has been continuously upgraded, there is nothing to do.  If you have an install directly from the 2007 disc, but without upgrades, you need to download the 2009.2, or Minimi 2009.4, or one of the other desktop versions and then upgrade from there. There are still a ton of upgrades, but it should work relatively well and if you have problems, others will be able to help you get going. Also, there will be a newer release someday, but there is no reason to wait.

I read somewhere on the forum that an install from a 2007 .iso that hasn't been kept up to date, wouldn't update to current. If this is the case, you will have to use a current .iso to get updated.

EDIT:  I mean,. What gseaman said  :D
