I'm talking about a notebook.

It doesn't happen with Vista (dual boot), so that eliminates hardware/heat.

I think I will try some other distributions to see if it is repeatable.

Sorry, the OP mentioned a PCI interface. Yeah, look and see how another setup is working. Look for kernel version differences, driver name and version and how its configured. Let us know of your findings in a new thread.  :)

I'm certainly no specialist here, but I remember fixing this issue on my laptop by switching from dhclient to dhcpcd.

You can do this from PCC. Something like "Network/internet>>Network center>>>Wireless>>Configure>>Advanced>>DHCP client"

Worth a try.

I haven't been on an extended amount of time, but this seems to be the fix that has worked for me. Thanks dubigrasu!
