Dolphin's crashing on me too, everytime I close it.
How do I make Konquerer the default file manager?

You can right click a folder on your desktop, choose properties, click the tiny icon with crossed tools. You should see konq in the list of applications & can move it to the top.
That's how I do it anyway.

An alternative way is to open Configure My Desktop aka KDE Control Center (or from konsole, systemsettings) and click Personal > Defult Applications on the left panel. On the right panel, select File Manager > Konqueror.

Here it goes like this:

Open Dolphin, pick some MP3 and open with XMMS.
After the fun, close Dolphin and .... CRASH!!!  (The by now overly known bug report window pops up).
There seems to be some connection with certain activities or apps (like xmms) that causes this.

Hmm, deleted (and thus reset) my .kde4 folder 2 weeks ago, so it probably doesn't count, but no crashes here either.

Maybe deleting the files regarding Dolphin would help:

Code: [Select]
~/.kde4/share/config/dolphinrc
~/.kde4/share/apps/dolphinpart
~/.kde4/share/apps/dolphinpart/dolphinpart.rc
~/.kde4/share/apps/dolphin
~/.kde4/share/apps/dolphin/dolphinui.rc

Of course this would mean having to set up user config for Dolphin again...

Yeah. I mighta mentioned...    ;)

I've got two machines that are running kde4. One's an absolute bear and one runs so smooth. I reloaded the dodgy machine with kde4 again and still a mess. Yet Kde3 on it is so fine.

It's fighting with my graphics card and for some reason now with the m-audio sound card. I'll get to the bottom of it. Or die. Which ever comes first.

 :(

It was good to start with until I started loading multimedia players and stuff on it. Yesterday something made it groan. I'll keep reloading my saved image until I find something I can prove.  8)

I can confirm identical behavior on my system as user or root. This is a clean install of 2009.2, all updates and then task-kde4-extra. Amarok running, open Dolphin select mp3 file, plays in Amarok, close Dolphin then crash screen pops up. Debugging provides;

Application: Dolphin (dolphin), signal: Segmentation fault

Tex,
Nope, you're no luckier than I (though my luck is quite average, I've never had dolphin crash)... The rest of those guys are just unlucky! :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D

Dolphin crashes on me every time I close it, unless I just open it and then close it without moving or opening a file, or basically doing anything with it.

I have that same thing, seems harmless as everything always works, but I get that crash notice all the time.  I am only running it in Virtualbox and fully updated.
