How do you autostart brightness switch at boot? [SOLVED!]

Hi,

I have an Asus Z7100 Notebook. When it boots into PCLinuxOS the brightness gets switched to very dim. I'm aware of the manual way to fix this, (by editing a file called ls_switch located in /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop to 0 instead of 1.) but what I need is a way to have this automatically done and to make it permanent.
Each time it boots up the previous edit is lost and it reverts back to 1 again.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

If you install KPowersave and set to run at boot, you will be able to set the brightness from there. You can even set it to different levels depending on the profiles you setup.

Thank  you Andy,

I neglected to mention that I had recently upgraded to kde 4.3.3.
I have KPowersave running and until I go manually edit the aforementioned file, the 'Brightness' slider is grayed out and only works after the edit.
I guess my KPowersave is set to run at boot as it is available in the taskbar when I login.

I just built a kde4 system from a minime base to see if i can find your problem, the first thing I noticed was that KPowersave isn't in the KDE4 repos

My suggestion would be to disable the start on login function from within KPowersave and then go to configure your desktop on the tool bar (not to be confused with configure your computer), and navigate down through System > Power Management

Then go to Edit Profiles and set the screen brightness level for the profiles you are using from there

Success!
This problem has now been solved! After four weeks of reading other posts and stewing on why it kept happening, I stumbled upon the answer.
It lies in the bios setup. After reading a post on a model that was not related to mine at all, I decided to use the same answer to see if it applied.
I went into my bios setup and sure enough, there was an option to switch on or off the brightness of the lcd to save power while running on battery.
I switched this off, but only after a few more restarts with the power being completely shut down did I realize the issue has been resolved!
