Hello!

Importing the messenger settings from Pidgin works here also, but only for Yahoo messenger and not Gtalk.

Gtalk is the only thing here, even without installed "Pidgin" works. All other protocols (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ) but should work with "telepathy-haze" and without installed "Pidgin". But once Pidgin is removed is no longer a connection established.

Under Mandriva, there is the sub-package "pidgin-plugins" which includes the needed lib files to familiarize yourself with the AIM, Yahoo, etc. to be able to connect. The files are contained in Pidgin under PCLinuxOS because it is not possible even with installed telepathy-haze with Yahoo or MSN without installing Pidgin to connect to.

Please split this package..

Hello!

Despite the fact that, recently we are receiving updates of Empathy related packages, the problem remains unresolved.

I even tried installing every gnome related package (installed task-gnome).
Something is still missing or buggy :(

Mandriva2010-Empathy2.28-My Gmail account result:

Empathy works on Mandriva (and Fedora12) even without adding any additional settings!

I'm waiting for the same result on PCLinuxOS  ::)

BTW, when the official release of PCLinuxOS2010 is expected?

Quick question: I use the "old" kernel (2.6.26.8.tex3), so can the above mentioned connection problem, somehow connected with kernel version?  ???

Well, back to the unresolved problem.
I have tested different things in order to make Empathy work with GTalk and found out that the problem is somehow kernel related!!!

When I use kernels 2.6.26.8.tex3/tex4 then Empathy does not connect to GTalk!
When I use kernels 2.6.27.31.tex5/2.6.31.9-pclos3/2.6.32.2-pclos5 then Empathy CONNECTS to GTalk but there appears a strange noise/voice when I press shut down/restart button and when the login screen appears.
Video link

The voice is really annoying and unpleasant. I had the similar noise on my laptop while using other distros (i.e. CentOS) with older kernels and had to deal with sound problems. I tested the kernels (2.6.27.31.tex5/2.6.31.9-pclos3/2.6.32.2-pclos5) on another machine (desktop) and had the same results.

We all are impatiently waiting (personally I DO!) for the new release PCLOS2010 but I'm concerned now about the mentioned noise. The new release will use new kernel, so I hope the noise will disappear with the new kernel... :)
