kbluetooth4

I cannot transfer files to and from my cell phone using kbluetooth4.  I am not sure how to troubleshoot this problem.  I launched kbluetooth from a terminal and tried to transfer a file from my computer to the cell with no luck and no output showed up in the konsole.  I then tried to send a file from the phone to the computer and it fails and I get the following output:
Code: [Select]
[alex@amcnally-desktop ~]$ Object::connect: No such signal Solid::Control::BluetoothRemoteDevice::nodeCreated(const QString &)
Object::connect: No such signal Solid::Control::BluetoothRemoteDevice::nodeRemoved(const QString &)

Is anybody else having trouble transferring files using kbluetooth?

I have Beta2 installed on an Acer Aspire 4736z laptop.

KBlueTooth icon is Green.  But when I try to pair it with my old Nokia 6600, it can actually "see" my mobile phone but when I click Next, the dialog window shortens and then after around 30 seconds, and error that says something like "Sorry, your Bluetooth Device isn't capable of Input Service".

I am sure that the bluetooth on this laptop works with the other distro.

I hope it can be fixed soon. :)

I just plugged in my bluetooth dongle - desktop PC - and a bluetooth icon appeared in the tray.
I turned on the bluetooth on the phone - a Nokia - and paired the devices (initiated by the phone) and transferred a file from PC to phone.
It was as quick and easy as that.

Desktop has Beta 2 updated.

I haven't tried using a bluetooth dongle, mine is an integrated bluetooth on this laptop.  It is working on the other distros i've used so far.

I guess I just have to buy a bluetooth dongle instead...

Not necessarily ........  I was just pointing out that BT is working, it is a matter of getting your particular hardware functioning .......

Start a thread with a descriptive heading maybe including the PC name & number, and supply as much detail - hardware and things tried - as possible and what the exact results were when trying things.

My IBM T41 with 2009.2/KDE4.3 and integrated BT would start everything up OK if I plugged in a bluetooth dongle (HP500 printer BT dongle in my case).
I could then see both BT devices and, if I removed the dongle, I could then still see and use the integrated BT.

Maybe you could try this to help you debug.

Maybe if you could determine what it is that gets started on plugging in the dongle, the problem could be resolved by starting those things in another manner.

It's bluetoothd

I'm using blueman, if I plug a BT dongle in then everything starts without any more intervention, if I don't start it with a dongle then I have to sudo bluetoothd.

I'm well aware that the underlying issues may have changed between 2009/KDE4.3 and 2010/KDE4.4 so it may or may not be relevant.

The solution to fishfillet's problem may be as simple as having that launch at boot time.

It won't launch at boot for me for some reason, I have to start bluetoothd manually.

Strangely enough if I hibernate or logout and back in it stays running.

I'm assuming you have it ticked to start at boot in the system services section of the PCC control center, if not do so.

During startup press "esc" and see if you get a "fail" during bootup, watch what service is failing.

Another option would be a quick and dirty script that could be put in the autostart folder that would run after startup.
Why?

The BT service isn't in the list at all.

IIRC there was some problem with BT in the 2009/KDE4 implementation, I'd have to go back to the thread and re-read to get the gist of it back :o

It's no big problem for me to start it manually, I was just suggesting the same solution for fishfillet's problem :)

Why?
