Wine Gecko
« on: November 20, 2009, 07:11:42 PM »
I just updated my system and a new wine was installed.  When I started my first app, a dialog appeared stating that Gecko was not installed would I like to download it.  I said no because it recommended a distribution package would be better.  I do not see this packge in Synaptic.  Should I just download the gecko engine and install it or would it be better to add to the package forum?

Gecko is the html layout engine for firefox. Since wine is replacing windows, it uses gecko instead of IE for all the snooping network access features of windows programs. ::)

Don't worry, just accept the installation. It will be installed in your wine folder. It doesn't interfere with your system.

I got wineboot.exe crashing doing it this way.
Maybe it's something related to this bug in the 1.0 version of gecko:

For me wine-doors did the job. At first start it installs gecko version 0.9.
And that works well.  (with Mediamonkey at least)
