Nope, my guess is that there is a contract to equip PCLinuxOS laptops to researchers who follow turtles and penguins.
A noble task by all means
You've got a million dollar contract to put PCLinuxOS on Dell netbooks ?
At one time I'd be admonished for even suggesting such a thing. Open
Source you know. Alright, I'll stop guessing.

You all are thinking too small. You gotta think big!!

For those of you who read the
PCLinuxOS Magazine and I am sure that is every single member,

you may remember I wrote an article for the January 2012 issue. I told of my neighbor/friend who bought a new computer and intended to throw her old one in the dump. Did I want to play with it? Of course I did and you can read the thrilling account in the magazine.

For quite a while I have been telling my friend all about Linux and singing its praises. I have shown her my install, and she was interested but didn't really understand it. I know the feeling about that.
Recently she bought a new laptop because her old one was going blinky blink. She took it to some
$hop to have it evaluated and it would be more
$$ to perhaps fix it. She was going to do it and then let her husband have it.
It was at this point I made my bold and brilliant move!!!! I suggested that maybe - perhaps - possibly - some of my Linux friends might have a look and see if it might be worth salvaging. And if it looked OK we would put a Linux OS on it.
She did not know how anybody could evaluate the computer without having it. But I said it was possible. She agreed and handed her laptop over to my care.

So for over a week I worked day and night (and I do mean day and night) and I stripped Windows off of it and I did a million or more commands in the console) and I installed Minime on it. I returned her computer to her yesterday and we connected to the internet, updated and added a few more things. Hey it works......so far.

So the wonderful thing that I feel I have done for PCLinuxOS and that everybody should aim to do at least once is
TA DA I recruited a new user for our favorite distro.
Who would have ever thought that was possible?

It may not last more than a couple of days, but I did do the deed. Now I have a new problem as I am going to have to give her HELP.

Doing my best.
Don't you love how
I keep saying....
I did this and
I did that.

You know very well that I had help with a laptop that was being very ornery and did not want to cooperate or let anything be installed on it.

And I am sure you know very well who helped me every step of the way

and he really deserves all the credit.
