@pstranger: You gotta be kiddin' me - isn't there already a Pop/Rock music thread?

Found it: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,54881.0.html

If you can see this words then I've already removed that post.

Watch the CATcerto.

How about yodeling the Mozart?

Oddly enough I find her much more enjoyable than the real thing ;D
Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.

I'm SURPRISED!!!!  Classical music lovers,,, and even more surprised BLARNEY hasn't shown up with his beloved Beethoven...  THE MASTER!!!
though I prefer  Mozart meself...

Just found the thread. How did I miss it!?  Hi Linuxera  ;D ;D ;D You are right. Beethoven is the MASTER!! Such compassion and raw emotion in his work. There will never be another of his like. Listen to the yearning in this...

Truely a beautiful piece, Blarney!!  Such gentleness of soul and heart, I agree!!  It will reflect our own inner feelings for decades to come. ;)

Here in this part of NZ, there is a real Classical Music enthusiast who runs two low power radio stations broadcasting in surround sound stereo. They run 24 hours per day. Fortunately, our home is situated where I can receive both channels, using the back of our TV antenna perfectly.

Here is a link to a newspaper article commemorating 10 years of non stop broadcasting by this citizen of our city.

I am told that such a station is unique to NZ and maybe even further afield.

OK, now for a bit of Mahler for you, but be warned: it's Simon Rattle giving his usual grimassing freak show. Back in 1998, he conducted the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. In 2002, he packed his bags, went to the Berlin Philharmonic. Need I say more?

So, if you can get by without a translation of the singing, just listen to it - or be rattled by Rattle:

Mahler 2nd - Finale End - Simon Rattle/CBSO

Gustavo Dudamel may have his share of antics, too, but here he shows Rattle how to behave - this is Mahler's 3rd, finale:

For better audio on the 3rd, finale:
Mahler - Symphony no.3 6th mouv. - Boulez (3/3)

It's youtube, where you get either Rattle or bad audio with less grimacing, or still pictures with great audio.  8)

Another great youtube find:

Maurice Ravel's Le tombeau de Couperin, played by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, with Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting:
Clip pt. 1 (including Prélude and Forlane):
Ravel - Le Tombeau de Couperin (I)

Clip pt. 2 (including Menuet and Rigaudon): Ravel - Le Tombeau de Couperin (II) (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

The Menuet especially gets me with its sheer beauty.

For further info on this masterpiece - please look here.
