I can't wait to see your first package hit the repo!  Just hope it's not one I'm working on.  hehe.  Just kidding.

I'm going to try and figure it out. I'm probably a few hundred questions away!

OK, first of all, I noticed that the down loadable PDF of the "Getting Started Guide" is completely obsolete.
Second, Can I verify that my system is ready for packaging?
I seem to have all of the directory structure in place and synaptic shows my repo in my home.

(actually I figured out that the directory structure was there by looking at the "Getting Started Guide" so I guess "Completely" obsolete was an overstatement.)

 Is that it?
If anything is a "Next Step" I need to know what it is.

Thanks all for being patient with me.

You have src and its subdirectories set up? Good. Now do this as a test of your system. -->

Download a src.rpm from the repos and right click it. Choose "Install SRPM for Build." Navigate to ~/src/rpm/SPECS and open the spec file. Edit it to its release number to the next up and add your info to %changelog. Save. Right click the spec and choose "Install Dependencies." When asked, choose 'yes' to save a list of installed dependencies. Next right click and choose "Build All."

You had me at --
Download a src.rpm from the repos

I must be missing a bit of critical knowledge right here. I don't see how to download an src.rpm. the only one I have is the pkgutils-kde4 , already installed.

This is the step I am confused about. Once I can download the data I need I can start to get really stumped! hehe

I have managed to go through the whole process, unsuccessfully. But, the good news is that I think I have at least verified that my system is capable of packaging!

That's good. Next step, look in the package suggest section for a request to update an app. Download its srpm and update it. :D If you run into problems (error messages and such) search through the forum to see if someone has had the same one and a fix has been posted. If not, post a new topic.

Also, look over Texstar's entries in the Living Wiki. There's some helpful stuff there.
