ok ..you appear to have one group, MDKGROUP with two computers, LOCALHOST and B/R(the slash on the name could be problematic)

you should be able to connect to "brett" computer and see those two shares ..try nautilus again

When I go tp places--->network, only 1 icon for windows network shows. double click and get "DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus"

you cant mount them without giving them a mount point ..they are where you set mount points ..i think the default is in /mnt so try there first

probably a permission issue, change those directory permissions in a way that will make them writable to you

what are the current permissions of the mounted folder

this issue is obviously with my machine. his pc can see all others on the network. I cant even mount my own share. i have no firewall running either so that cant be the issue

the shared folder on the server must be set to allow others on the network to write to them. When you mount a network shared folder on the client computer, you must mount it on the folder you have writing access to in order to wrote to them.

what are the permissions on the mounted folder on the client computer?. you keep saying "his","hers" and i dont know what computer is what ..i hope you know which one is the server and which one is the client.

i am currently talking about permission issues on the folder on the mount point of the client, make sure permissions are set to read, write and execute to owner, group and others

actually there is no server. This is a peer to peer network. When i refer to his or hers, i am referring to a pc other than the one i use. ( which is the one i want to do maintenance of the other box's from) hope that makes sense! Since all machines on the network are performing both servr and client duties. At least i think they are......lmao
