Does that mean once you set up your desktops, re-enabling compiz(or 3d) will mess it up, or will they stay put?

They certainly got messed up when I enabled compiz. I turned it off and they immediately returned to normal. Now,  like uncleV, I'm not keen to try it again. Compiz and Desktop effects don't work well together.

Yeah...
I'm thinking the old OS way. And it says to me Compiz or KDE mess up with the systems which one here is the PCLinuxOS itself.
I don't like this but am aware, somehow feel this. :)

Could also be looked at this way now. You have identified some clearcut interference, while an nuisence does not crash your systems. Now it is out in the open perhaps somebody smart with coding soon discovers where the problem is and you may then get your compiz back to play further with.   :) Rather satisfactory result in the topic.

When you find out compiz back again in orderly fashion.  Please  come back and drop a note in here. .   8)

I tried to apply special settings to a window (just ticking Full Window and Desktop one, both on initialization), KDE freezes. Only thing that works is Crtl-Alt-Backspace.

It happened after upgrading to 4.5.1 and rebooting, but I hadn't tried it before. so I'm not sure if it's a new issue.

Kernel 2.6.32.12-bfs and Intel onboard graphics.

All that is is good. PCLinuxOS is.

Perhaps a kernel upgrade would improve things.
