Adobe Air- Twitter Apps
« on: October 12, 2009, 08:08:36 AM »
Ok, so I wanted to try a couple of Twitter apps(via twitter.com) that run with Adobe Air. I installed Adobe Air without a hitch, but the Twitter apps won't install. An adobe installer window pops up asking to open or save, so I chose open. Then the adobe window disappears & nothing happens. Anyone else have this problem? HELP!

its been ages since i last installed an air app and it required that i install it with root's privileges ..my question suggested that you try installing with such privilege but you havent said if have tried .. can you give a download link of this app you want to install?

http://getspaz.com/#desktop-download
& also http://www.twhirl.org/

I just tried again, & Twhirl appeared to install, but there's no shortcut icon or menu item for it. No clue why.... Spaz gave me an error.

log out and log back in to see if there is an icon on the menu ...you might need to manually add yourself if it doesnt do that automatically ...air apps are installed in "/opt" folder

Well, there's no sign of it being installed. Even Synaptic doesn't recognize it, as it did before. Then I tried installing again, & the same thing happened as before. The adobe install window disappeared....

just tested it, the installer windows disappears because it crashes and i have no idea why it is crashing ..

it crashes with the following msg on the terminal and the log file doesnt seem to be useful(to me atleast)

Application crashed with an unhandled SIGSEGV
Crashlog has been dumped in /tmp/airCrashLogs/1013_1121_0ekwNO

Well, at least I'm not the only one :P Perhaps it's a bug in Adobe Air, but then it shouldn't have been released with such an issue. I'd like to try the apps again, so hopefully Adobe will release a stable version soon.

Just an update.... I've been getting "error # 3003", & there seems to be many reports of this issue with Adobe Air. I guess I'll haveto keep an eye out for a new version that HOPEFULLY fixes the problem.

you can use native linux twitter apps like choqok or qwit. search for them in the repository
