The grub menu shows nothing.  Im getting a segmentation error.  I saw somewhere on here what to do to fix it but i dont dont know how to boot into console so I can fix it.  My grub show no new entries and boots way to fast

That's the multiple amd_64 and intel entries in /etc/modprobe.conf preload file. Easiest to use the livecd to migrate to the installed file system and fix. Neal has a thread on this a little while back.
Why?

In /etc/modprobe.preload, you'll find in the list -->

amd64_agp
amd64_agp
amd64_agp

intel_agp

It is okay to remove these. You will be able to boot after.

Same segmentation fault on one box here after updating to kernel 2.6.27.31.tex5
Went through reinstall and update to get back to where I was before this. Then I saw Neal's post and I # out the
In /etc/modprobe.preload, you'll find in the list -->

#amd64_agp
#amd64_agp
#amd64_agp

#intel_agp

and tried booting again.  Everything happy so I updated to 2.6.27.31.tex5 and then shut down and booted into the new kernel 2.6.27.31.tex5

Worked great.  No problems this time.  Thanks much!

I've had a different problem with this kernel. I connect to the internet via a Zyxel G202 USB dongle, and with this kernel, the machine hangs with loads of trace info on bootup. The only way to start the computer is to unplug the dongle, wait until the desktop is fully loaded, then plug it in.

I've tried uninstalling wlan0 through the control centre with it unplugged, and deleting /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and starting over (this worked a few kernel upgrades ago), to no avail.

PCLinuxOS has no wealthy sponsors and can only survive with your donations! Don't wait it might be too late.
