You folks have been so helpful (both on Phoenix and regular PCLinuxOS). I recently installed one of each on almost identical Dell Optiplex GX110 computers (only difference in machines is speed of PIII processors, 500 MHz on Phoenix & 600+ on PCLinuxOS-- and Hard drive sizes).
However I am finding on the Phoenix install that the internal computer speaker is making system sounds (haven't tried CDs yet) but external speakers are not receiving signals. These computers both ran Win2K until I saved them-- so I know the onboard sound/ external speakers did work.
My guess is that Alsa guessed at the wrong "sound card"-- I would appreciate any help in running this down. Thaank you
