« on: October 02, 2009, 02:53:33 AM »
If you would like the current song to be displayed in Emesene using VLC, so your friends can see it, do the following:

Install from Synaptic python-dbus. Open VLC/Tools/Preferences(Show all settings)/Interface/Control Interface and thick dbus. Save!

Open Emesene/Options/Plugins/ and enable Current song. Have Current song marked and click on the button Properties (left down). As player choose VLC (optionally you can also enable "Get cover art from the web" and "Change avatar".

Hit Alt+F2, copy/paste:

Code: [Select]
kdesu kwrite ~/.config/emesene1.0/pluginsEmesene/__init__.py
and add the follwing line:

Code: [Select]
from Vlc import Vlc
Save!

Play a song.

To check, if everything is ok, go to Emesene/Options/Plugins/Current song/Properties/Show logs and you should see:

Quote
info  reset player:org.mpris.vlc
info  player running:org.mpris.vlc
info  getStatus: Ok

I used emesene 1.5 - awesome and VLC 0.9.9a

Enjoy ;)
