Optiarc BD Rom BC-5500A
« on: September 18, 2009, 04:21:51 PM »
My Acer Aspire 6920 has a Optiarc BD Rom BC-5500A which is not being mounted and refuses to be played/recognised. In Kaffeine when I select play Audio CD, I get the message: cannot find input plugin for MRL (cdda:/).
It is recognised in PCCC showing the following:
Mount point: /media/hda
Device: hda
Name: Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500A
Type: auto
Options: umask=0,users,iocharset=utf8,dev,suid,user_xattr,exec

Open Console, go root and copy/paste:

Code: [Select]
lshw | grep cdrom -A 10
and post back.

I got the following
bash: lshw: command not found

Still no joy in getting this to work or playing movies and music.

Since this post has had no replies for a while I started a new topic:

this is the third or maybe the fourth post talking about bluray drives not working properly

i can't find any answer or solution for this problem here or on internet

the only idea i have is to try it with a recent kernel and see how it responds(the .27 or a testing kernel?)

also in the apps you use to watch dvd or listen to cds and see if they are searching for the right path, also try vlc or smplayer, see the config options for each app

in the original post, the drive is reported as hda but this drive is sata so it should be sda or sr0 isn't?
