Need help with Lilypond update
« on: August 21, 2009, 11:25:27 PM »
I've created an updated Lilypond 2.12.2. The older version fails to work on many .ly files. The new version works great.

I had to build a newer texinfo (4.13) to get lilypond to compile. The texinfo spec file creates three different packages, I can install two of them and build lilypond. Installing the third one, info-install, removes about 50 packages, 6 of them label ESSENTIAL. After lilypond is built, I removed the upgrades and everything works great. These packages belong together and I am not able to sort out this level of complexity.

Can I submit a package that has a build dependency that must not be permanently installed? I would like to submit lilypond src, texinfo src, with instructions to downgrade texinfo after building. What would be the policy on this? The end user would not see any problems.
