I got base to build, without data, or maps.  Will not run, either because data is needed, or because my vid is not capable of running it, but it did build.

console said it can't find some files, as expected since data isn't loaded.  It opened to an opening screen with a red gradient background, I was kind of suprised it even did that much.  hehe.  Now I will work on adding the data source to the spec file, unless you have finished it already.

I'm uploading it to the contrib server. Everything is done.

Datafiles are not separated. I made it as one big rpm :)

You just need to download and copy datafiles, and source as defined in spec file to your APT/SOURCES and it will build.

@Slax, I know this isn't the right place to post broken packages, but I saw in one of you earlier posts in this thread that you updated glest.  Thank you, I enjoy playing it, and was excited to see an updated version. however....
Code: [Select]
[jaycoke@daddy ~]$ glest
Exception: Can't open propertyMap file: data/lang/english.lng.lng
I changed ~/.glest/glest.ini
Lang=english
#Lang=english.lng
Then got this
Code: [Select]
[jaycoke@daddy ~]$ glest
Exception: Error accessing value: AutoTest in: glest.ini
Value not found in propertyMap: AutoTest, loaded from: glest.ini
I backed up ~/.glest and then deleted it.
and ran the program again and it was good.
The console output showed
Code: [Select]
[jaycoke@daddy ~]$ glest
/usr/games/glest: line 47: /usr/share/games/glest/servers.ini: Permission denied
Couldn't process event: Mouse Button > 3 not handled.
Couldn't process event: Can't open TGA file: screens/screen0.tga
Which I fixed by overwriting ~/.glest/servers.ini with the file from /usr/share/games/glest/servers.ini
I'm not sure about the mouse error though. ???
I also got this when trying to join a network game...
Code: [Select]
[jaycoke@daddy ~]$ glest
#2 Error connecting socket for IP: 192.168.1.102 for Port: 61357 err = -1 errno = 115 [Operation now in progress]EINPROGRESS in connect() - selecting
Couldn't process event: Timeout in select() - Cancelling!
 (Error: Operation now in progress)
Restarting audio source because of buffer underrun.
Searching Google turned up that this is a known bug

Thanks for updating Glest!!

Thanks Jaycoke :)

You did everything well. Script does the same. The game itself has no install routine, so it has to be done manually.
For some reason, lang file in ini should be changed to name without extension. And all the data files needs to be copied in home/user dir.

I don't know about the mouse or network problem :?

Wait until the game is in the repo than we'll all test it and fix it if possible :)

I also like this game very much... One of my fav open source games :)

Please suggest any other games you like to be packaged :) PCLOS has to have all great games supported :)
