TV Card Help
« on: August 07, 2009, 02:30:24 AM »
Hi

I have a Avermedia M103 TV Card, which I got working in 2007 with some mcentral code, not now supported from what I can tell.  After the big update I got it working with the 2.6.27 kernel that was released for a day or two.  I have just installed to 2009.2 and kernel 2.6.27.19 & 21 in the testing repository do not work well with my system (I get a segmentation fault after the UDev OK in the boot up sequence), so for the time being I'm working on the base kernel and would love to get my card working again.

I believe that the Avermedia E506 card is included in this kernel, this card is essentially the same and should work, however I would need to enter the cardnumber in the driver set up.  Where will I find the card list to see what number it is.

Also do you know if there is an initialisation bug with this card in our kernel as reported in
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/AverMedia_AverTV_Cardbus_Hybrid_E506R

if this is the case where is my kernel directory, is it usr/scr?
If it is, we do not seem to have the file to patch "saa7134-dvb.c" on ".h"

Any help in getting my card to work would be great.

I have a a philips LX 3000 http://support.thetechguys.com/layout.aspx?ID={5f0dcdeb-6831-47db-a361-b45157bc368e}&CatID={d0456296-3fbd-4756-b70e-9df3ea726ed6}

Thanks in advacne

Hi Rob..

Download the firmware here: http://mcentral.de/firmware/firmware_v5.tgz

Extract the file and place it's contents in /lib/firmware..  You need to be root to do this..

Reboot and try the card using Kaffeine..

Good luck,

Hi,

thanks for the help, I've downloaded the drivers and still no luck.  I think I'll need to program the E506 card number into the driver set up, do you know where I can get the card numbers from, I'm sure there is a cardlist somewhere.

Cheers
