« on: August 10, 2009, 03:57:10 AM »
Updated minime 09 KDE 3.5 to KDE4.

Before the update Network was working ok.After the update Computers with KDE 3.5 can see the KDE 4 Computer, but Kde 4 Computer does not see the other Computer. I get the following error on the KDE 4 install. coud not start process unable to create Io slave. Klauncher said error loading kio smb.

Do I need to change a setting or install

Maybe you need samba that is in testing.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Is this the same version?

I have same problem with similar notifications....  :'( I think Samba needs to be updated. Interestingly I can stream from NAS drive using XMBC, but cannot see content of NAS with Samba or SMB4K, which always crashes....

XMBC is great for watching movies or listening to music off the network.. ;D.. so what is it using, that SAMBA isn't????

And smbtree outputs nothing - not even an error message?

Is there anything "funny" about the machine names you're trying to access - spaces, special characters, etc..

Found my problem. It was Host name, Aliases and Netbios Name.I do not know if the Name was too long or a typo.Change the Name and length of the Name working ok now.

If the KDE version is still in testing this is better then some Linus OS finals. Can not wait to see the final.

Thanks Guys
